Tuning Fork Therapy
Sound and VIbrational Healing
“Sound and Vibrational Healing”
By Francine Milford
Sound energy surrounds us and passes through us bringing with it the power to heal and balance the very cells of our body. We live in a world of sound communication. A baby cries, a bell rings, a bird sings-all of these sounds and more elicit a specific response in our minds and bodies.
Whether we are aware of it or not, we are constantly being inundated with a variety of sounds in our lives. For the most part, we have learned to filter out some noises in our lives such as passing traffic or droning appliances. We remain unconcerned unless something unexpected happens such as a crash.
While the science of sound contains knowledge of sound waves, tones, overtones and harmonics-the healing part of sound contains information on frequencies and Hertz. Since every organ, tissue, cell and organ systems vibrates at specific frequencies, we can use sound and vibration to enhance the nutrition of food and water, remove negative and stagnant energy in the body or in one’s surroundings, relieve pain and even stop bone loss.
And human beings aren’t the only ones that can benefit from a sound therapy session. Pets and plants have also enjoyed and reaped rewards from a session. If using tuning forks, we can incorporate both sound and vibration in the healing session. In this way, even deaf people can “feel” the sensations and vibrations in their body.
Benefits from a sound therapy session include better sleep, lower blood pressure, increased circulation, release of tension and stress, better digestion and elimination, relief of respiratory problems, and clears congestion in the head.
A simple toning exercising for the Chakra System:
Sit or lie in a comfortable position and close your eyes.
Take a long, slow breath in and as you exhale, release all stress that you may be holding in your body.
Bring your mind to your Root Chakra, located at the base of your spine. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, hum or say aloud, “Do” (pronounced DOE). See the color red and activate the Root Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Move up the scale bringing your focus to your Sacral Chakra located just below your navel, and breathe in. As you exhale hum or say aloud “Re” (pronounced ray). See the color orange and activate the Sacral Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Bring your mind to your Solar Plexus area located 2” above your navel, and breathe in. As you exhale, hum or say aloud, “Mi” (pronounced me). See the color yellow and activate the Solar Plexus tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Bring your attention to your Heart Chakra located in the middle of your chest, and breathe in. As you exhale, hum or say aloud “Fa.” See the color green and activate the Heart Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Move up to your Throat Chakra located at the base of your throat, and breathe in. As you exhale, hum or say aloud the word, “So.” See the color Blue and activate the Throat Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Bring your mind to the middle of your forehead, the Brow Chakra, and take a slow deep breath in and as you exhale, hum or say aloud the word, “La.” See the color Indigo and activate the Brow Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Focus your mind at your Crown Chakra located at the top of your head. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, hum or say aloud the word, “Ti” (pronounced Tea). See the color Violet and activate the Crown Chakra tuning fork. Continue two more times for a total of three breaths in and out.
Bring your mind to your Soul Star Chakra located about one foot above the top of your head. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, hum or say aloud the word, “Doe.” See the color white and activate the Soul Purpose Chakra tuning fork. Continue for two more breaths in and two more exhalations.
When finished, take a slow, deep breath in and as you exhale, hum or say out loud the word, “OM.” Imagine feeling the sound vibrate through your whole body from the top of your head down to the bottom of your feet. See all of the colors of your chakras glowing with health and vigor. Feel yourself becoming grounded in this wonderful sound. Repeat two more times for a total of three breaths in and out. When finished open your eyes and begin your day feeling balanced and at peace.
