Tuning Fork Therapy®-Fact or Fiction?

July 9th, 2007

In his book the Healing Power of Sound, Mitchele L. Gaynor, M.D. suggests that practitioners need to combine sound with imagery to achieve optimum success.

But in his book on sound, Jonathan Goldman suggests that we practitioners need to use sound and intention to achieve healing-he goes on to say that sound without intention does not heal.

For a sound therapist, I find this hard to believe. If I understand this correctly, it will be up to my sole discretion whether someone heals or does not heal due to my intention. If that is true, why use sound at all? If all healing is done my intention-why not just use intention and forget about everything else? Why would we need any extra trappings at all?

Imagine for a moment if we could lay aside ALL healing instruments be they conventional surgical tools, crystals or tuning forks and then just use intention alone. That would be pretty awesome indeed. That is after all the way that Jesus healed-with a touch of hand, a word from his mouth and by intention. Or was it?

When the woman touched Jesus’ cloak when he was speaking to a crowd, she received healing from the touch of his cloak AND the belief she held within herself that the touch would heal her. This is the remarkable type of healing that resides in each and every one of us-the power to heal and the power to be healed. How wonderful is that?

If I believe in the power of sound frequencies to affect the body, then it shouldn’t matter what my intention is. Sound frequency should make a difference on the body regardless. I would love to hear a discussion on this topic. If you have a point of view, or some actual healing sessions you would like to share-please send it along for all of us to learn and grow.
